An Act to approve the Ratification on behalf of Australia of the Convention on International Civil Aviation concluded at Chicago on the seventh day of December, One thousand nine hundred and forty-four, and for other purposes.

Act 1920-1936 * is in this Act referred to

as the Principal Act.

(3.) The Principal Act, a s amended b y this Act, m a y be cited as the Air Navigation

Act 1920-1947.

Sect ion three of the Principal A c t is amended b y omit t ing the

definitions

3. After section three of the Pr incipal A c t the following section is inserted :—

Sect ion four of the Pr incipal A c t is

a m e n d e d —

(a) by omitting the word "Convention" (first occurring) and

5. After sect ion four of the Pr incipal A c t the following section is

inserted :—

" 5.

T h e Governor-General m a y m a k e regulat ions for the purpose

provisions of any a m e n d m e n t of the Chicago Convention m a d e under

Article ninety-four thereof and for the purpose of providing for the control of air nav iga t ion—

(a) in relation to trade and commerce with other countries and

among the States;

(b) in relation to the Naval and Military defence of the Common-

wealth and of the several States;

(c) in relat ion to pos ta l a n d other like services;

(d) within any Terr i tory of the Commonweal th;

(e) within any State the Parliament of which has referred to the

Parliament of the Commonwealth the matter of the control

of air navigation within that State; and

(f) for carrying out and giving effect to any other international

convention or agreement relat ing to air nav iga t ion to

which Austra l i a is or becomes a

p a r t y ".

6. Sect ion four of the Principal A c t a s amended b y this A c t shall cease to have effect a s a t midnight on the ninth d a y of A u g u s t, One thousand nine hundred and forty-seven and shall be deemed to be
