REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1965.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1965.

(b) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (6.) the words " these Regulations " and inserting in their stead the words " this sub-regulation "; and

Consolidated Rates of Pay.

2. Regulation 544 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words " Twelve thousand six hundred and fifty-seven " and inserting in their stead the words " Twelve thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight ";

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " Ten thousand six hundred and fifty-seven " and inserting in their stead the words " Ten thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight "; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words " Eleven thousand six hundred and fifty-seven " and inserting in their stead the words " Eleven thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight ".

Pay of Air Cadets.

3. Regulation 548 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

Pay of airmen other than cadets and apprentices.

4. Regulation 549 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (3.) the following sub-regulation:—

" (3a.) An instrument determining the group within which a mustering shall be classified for the purposes of this regulation made by the Air Board under the last preceding sub-regulation may be expressed to take effect from the twenty-ninth day of February, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight, or any subsequent date not earlier than two years before the date on which it is made and, if it is expressed to take effect from any date except the date on which it is made, airmen are entitled to be paid pay as if it had been made on the day from which it is

 

expressed to take effect, it had come into force immediately it had been made and the amendments of the Air Force Regulations effected by Statutory Rule 1968, No. 140 had come into effect on the twenty-ninth day of February, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight.".

Pay of airmen apprentices.

5. Regulation 551 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

Marriage Allowance.

6. Regulation 555 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words " One dollar five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar ten cents ";

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar sixty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar sixty-five cents ";

(c) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar sixty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar sixty-five cents ";

(d) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar ten cents ";

(e) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar sixty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar sixty-five cents ";

(f) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar sixty cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar sixty-five cents ";

(g) by omitting from paragraph (e) of sub-regulation (5.) the words " One dollar five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar ten cents ".

Conditions to be complied with before marriage allowance is payable.

7. Regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the words " Three dollars thirty-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " Three dollars forty-five cents ".

Living out allowance— single members.

8. Regulation 567 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1.) the words " One dollar twelve cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventeen cents ";

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar seventy-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar eighty cents "; and

 

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of that  paragraph the words “ One dollar twelve cents ” and inserting in their stead the words “ One dollar seventeen cents ”

Ration allowance.

9. Regulation 569 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (2.) the words " One dollar twelve cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventeen cents ";

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (e) of that sub-regulation the words " One dollar seventy-five cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar eighty cents "; and

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of that paragraph the words " One dollar twelve cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventeen cents ".

Rates of travelling allowance.

10. Regulation 578 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (3.) the words " One dollar twelve cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventeen cents ".

Reduction of rate when subsistence or quarters is provided.

11. Regulation 590 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words " One dollar twelve cents " and inserting in their stead the words " One dollar seventeen cents ".

Fifth and Sixth Schedules.

12. The Fifth and Sixth Schedules to the Air Force Regulations are repealed and the following Schedules inserted in their stead:—

Application.

13.—(1.) The rates of pay and rates of allowances provided for in the Air Force Regulations as amended by regulations 1 to 11 (inclusive) of these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Air Force on and after the twenty-fifth day of October, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight.

(2.) The rates of pay provided for in regulation 549 and the Fifth and Sixth Schedules of the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply in respect of service in the Air Force on and after the twenty-first day of November, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight.

(3.) Where, but for this sub-regulation, a male member would, by virtue of the application of the amendments of regulation 555 or regulation 555a of the Air Force Regulations as from the twenty-fifth day of October, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight, in accordance with sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation cease to be entitled to marriage allowance or became entitled to marriage allowance at a reduced rate, the member shall not cease to be so entitled to marriage allowance or the rate of marriage allowance shall not be so reduced, as the case may be, until the date of commencement of these Regulations.

(4.) Where an allotment made by a male member was in force in respect of the period from and including the twenty-fifth day of October One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, or in respect of a part of that period, at a rate that entitled him to marriage allowance at the rate of One dollar five cents per day but would not entitle him to marriage allowance at the rate of One dollar ten cents per day under the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations, the member may increase his allotment in respect of the period or the part of the period, as the case may be, and, if he does so, marriage allowance is payable to him in accordance with the Air Force Regulations as so amended as if his increased allotment had been in force during the period or the part of the period.

Modification of Statutory Rules 1968, No. 140.

14. Regulation 8 of Statutory Rules 1968, No. 140, applies to and in relation to service in the Air Force on the twenty-fifth day of October, One thousand nine hundred and sixty-eight, and on any subsequent day before the commencement of these Regulations as if the reference in sub-regulation (4.) of that regulation to the rates of active pay provided for in regulation 549 of the Air Force Regulations as amended by Statutory Rules 1968, No. 140, were read as a reference to the rates of active pay provided for in regulation 549 of the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations.
