REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1965.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1965.

Amendments of the Air Force Regulations 

Active pay of officers.

1.—(1.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (8.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(2.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (8a.) the words " Twenty-two dollars seventy-two cents " and inserting in their stead the words " Twenty-three dollars fifty cents ".

(3.) The daily rates of active pay specified in sub-regulations (8.) and (8a.) of regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations as amended by this regulation apply to and in relation to service of an officer of the chaplains' branch of the Permanent Air Force on and after the tenth day of September, 1970.

Pay of air cadets.

2.—(1.) Regulation 548 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (1.) and (1a.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—

" (1.) Subject to the succeeding sub-regulations of this regulation, the daily rate of active pay of an air cadet of the Permanent Air Force who is undergoing training at the Air Force Academy is the rate specified in the following table in relation to the stage of his training.

"(1a.) Subject to the succeeding sub-regulations of this regulation, the daily rate of active pay of an air cadet of the Permanent Air Force, not being an air cadet to whom the last preceding sub-regulation applies, is the rate specified in the following table in relation to the stage of his training.

" (1aa.) Where an air cadet repeats a year's training because he has failed to complete that year's training successfully, the daily rate of active pay of the air cadet is the rate specified in the table in whichever of the last two preceding sub-regulations is applicable in relation to that year of training.".

(2.) Regulation 548 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1b.) the word " sub-regulation (1.) " and inserting in its stead the word " sub-regulation (1a.) ".

Pay of airmen apprentices.

3.—(1.) Regulation 551 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

" (1.) The daily rate of active pay of an airman apprentice of the Permanent Air Force is the rate specified, in relation to his stage of training, in the following table:—

(2.) Regulation 551 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1a.) the word " weekly " and inserting in its stead the word " daily ".

Special allowances for toilet requisites and other expenses—airmen apprentices.

4. Regulation 556e of the Air Force Regulations is repealed.

Transitional.

5.—(1.) The daily rates of active pay specified in regulation 548 of the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations apply to and in relation to service of an air cadet in the Permanent Air Force on and after the twenty-fourth day of September, 1970.

 

(2.) Where the amount of active pay that would have been payable to an apprentice of the Permanent Air Force in respect of his service during the period from and including the twenty-fourth day of September, 1970, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations if the amendments of the Air Force Regulations effected by regulations 3 and 4 of these Regulations had come into operation on the twenty-fourth day of September, 1970, exceeds the sum of the amounts of active pay and the amounts of special allowance under regulation 556e of the Air Force Regulations that were paid or payable to the airman apprentice in respect of his service during that period, the air apprentice is, by virtue of this sub-regulation, entitled to be paid an amount equal to the amount of the excess.
