(2.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“ (2.) Subject to sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation, where an officer of the Permanent Air Force holds a rank specified in the table in this sub-regulation and, immediately before the officer was commissioned as such an officer, the officer—
(
a ) was serving in the Naval Forces on continuous full time naval service and held the rating of Warrant Officer, Chief Petty Officer or Petty Officer;(
b )was serving in the Military Forces on continuous full time military service and held the rank of Warrant Officer, Class 1, Warrant Officer, Class 2, Staff Sergeant or Sergeant; or(
c ) was serving in the Air Force on continuous full time air-force service and held the rank of Warrant Officer, Flight Sergeant or Sergeant,
the daily rate of active pay of the officer is the rate specified in the second column of that table opposite to his length of service in that rank in the first column.

(3.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the words “ Fifteen dollars eighty-eight cents ” and inserting in their stead the words “ Sixteen dollars sixty-six cents ”.
(4.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (5.) and (6.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—
“ (5.) Where—
(
a ) an officer was commissioned as an officer on or after the sixteenth day of December, 1971;(
b ) the officer was serving on continuous full time service in the Defence Force immediately before he was commissioned as an officer; and(
c ) the rate (in this sub-regulation referred to as ‘ the relevant rate ’) per day at which active pay was payable to the officer immediately before he was commissioned as an officer is higher than the basic rate for the officer, the daily rate of active pay of the officer is—(
d )if a rate higher than the relevant rate is specified in sub-regulation (1.) or (2.), whichever would but for this sub-regulation apply in the case of the officer, of this regulation in relation to his rank—the rate specified in that sub-regulation in relation to his rank that is next higher than the relevant rate; or(
e ) in any other case—the relevant rate.
“ (6.) Where an officer becomes entitled to be paid active pay in
accordance with paragraph (
“ (6a.) In sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation, ‘ the basic rate ’, in relation to an officer, means—
(
a )in the case of an officer who, immediately before he was commissioned as an officer—(i) was serving in the Naval Forces on continuous full time naval service and held the rating of Warrant Officer, Chief Petty Officer or Petty Officer;
(ii) was serving in the Military Forces on continuous full time military service and held (he rank of Warrant Officer, Class 1, Warrant Officer, Class 2, Staff Sergeant or Sergeant; or
(iii) was serving in the Air Force on continuous full time air-force service and held the rank of Warrant Officer, Flight Sergeant or Sergeant,
the rate specified in sub-regulation (2.) of this regulation in relation to his rank and his service in his rank; or
(
b )in any other case—the rate specified in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation in relation to his rank and his service in his rank.”.
(5.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (8.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(6.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (8a.) the words “ Twenty-seven dollars eighty-six cents ” and inserting in their stead the words “ Twenty-nine dollars forty cents ”.
(7.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (9.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“ (9.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the daily rate of active pay of an officer of the Royal Australian Air Force Nursing Service or the Women’s Royal Australian Air Force, other than an officer who is a qualified medical or dental practitioner, is the rate specified, in relation to her rank and service, in the following table:—

(8.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (9.) the following sub-regulation:—
“ (9a.) Where the rate at which active pay was payable to an officer to whom the last preceding sub-regulation applies, being an officer who was commissioned from warrant or non-commissioned rank on or after the sixteenth day of December, 1971, immediately before she was so commissioned is higher than the rate at which active pay would, but for this sub-regulation, be payable to her under the last preceding sub-regulation, the daily rate of active pay of the officer is that higher rate.”.

(2.) The rates of active pay provided for in the Air Force Regulations as amended by regulations 2, 3 and 4 of these Regulations apply to and in relation to service of an airwoman in the Air Force on and after the first day of January, 1972.
