REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1965.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1965.

Amendments of the Air Force Regulations 

Pay of Airmen Apprentices.

1. Regulation 551 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the table from sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following table:—

Increments.

2. Regulation 549b Of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (4).

3. Regulation 552 of the Air Force Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:—

Good conduct increments.

“ 552. (1) Subject to the next succeeding regulation, the rate of active pay of an airman of the Permanent Air Force who is serving in a mustering other than an aircrew mustering and holds the rank of corporal or a lower rank shall be increased by a good conduct increment after the completion of five years’ service and by a further good conduct increment after the completion of ten years’ service.

“ (2) A good conduct increment and a further good conduct increment are each payable at the rate of Fourteen cents per day.”.

Grant of increments.

4. Regulation 552a of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (4) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (4) In this regulation, a reference to an increment shall be read as a reference to a good conduct increment or a further good conduct increment.”.

Application of amendments—Air Force Airmen apprentices.

5. The rates of pay provided for in sub-regulation 551 (1) of the Air Force Regulations as amended by regulation 1 apply in respect of service of an airman apprentice during his apprentice training on and after 18th May, 1972.

Additional pay for apprentices.

6. An airman apprentice who, during the period from and including the 26th August, 1971, to and including 17th May, 1972, or during part of that period, was undergoing apprentice training is, by virtue of this regulation, entitled to additional pay in respect of that period or part of that period of an amount equal to the amount by which the pay already paid to him in accordance with the scale of rates of pay in sub-regulation 551 (1) of the Air Force Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations is less than the amount that would have been payable if the scale of rates of pay in the table in this regulation had been the scale of rates of pay in that period or that part of that period for airmen apprentices.

Good conduct increments—application.

7. Good conduct increments and further good conduct increments are payable to airwomen of the Permanent Air Force serving in a mustering other than an aircrew mustering and holding the rank of corporal or a lower rank at the rate specified in sub-regulation 552 (2) of the Air Force Regulations as amended by these Regulations in respect of service on and after 1st January, 1972.
