REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1975.*

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1975.

Amendments of the Air Force Regulations 

Amendments declared to be relevant amendments for the purposes of regulation 17 of the Defence Force (Reserves (Financial) Regulations.

1. The amendments effected by these Regulations are declared to be the relevant amendments of the Air Force Regulations for the purposes of regulation 17 of the Defence Forces (Reserves) (Financial) Regulations.

Ranks of airmen.

2. Regulation 101 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by inserting the following sub-regulations before sub-regulation (2):—

“ (1) The ranks held by airmen shall be as follows:—

(a) Warrant Officer;

(b) Flight Sergeant;

(c) Sergeant;

(d) Corporal;

(e) Leading Aircraftman;

(f) Aircraftman;

(g) Air Cadet;

“ (1a) Airmen who hold a rank specified in paragraph (1) (e), (f) or (i) are men in ranks.”.

Salary during illness, &c.

3. Regulation 531 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the words “ of the Permanent Air Force ”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the words “ active pay ” and substituting the word “ salary ”;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) the words “ active pay ” and substituting the word “ salary ”;

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) the words “ active pay ” and substituting the word “ salary ”;

(e) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) the words “ active pay ” and substituting the word “ salary ”; and

(f) by omitting from sub-regulation (5) the words “ active pay ” (where-ever occurring) and substituting the word “ salary ”.

Excess recreation leave.

4. Regulation 534b of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2) the word “ pay ” (wherever occurring) and substituting the word “ salary ”.

Meaning of pay in regulations 534a and 534b.

5. After regulation 534b of the Air Force Regulations, the following regulation is inserted:—

“ 534ca. In regulations 534a and 534b, ‘pay’ means—

(a) salary;

(b) service allowance;

(c) uniform maintenance allowance;

(d) flying pay;

(e) flight pay;

(f) flying instructional pay;

(g) higher duty allowance;

(h) district allowance;

(i) Woomera allowance; and

(j) parachutist’s allowance.”.

Deductions in respect of past service.

6. Regulation 535 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the word “ pay ” (first occurring) and substituting the word “ salary ”;

(b) by omitting the words “ under these Regulations ”; and

(c) by omitting the word “ pay ” (second occurring) and substituting the words “ salary and allowances ”.

Semi-official debts.

7. Regulation 536 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting after the words “ a member ” the words “ of the Air Force ”; and

(b) by omitting the word “ pay ” and substituting the word “ salary ”.

8. Before regulation 557 of the Air Force Regulations the following regulation is inserted in Division 4 of Part XI:—

Definition.

“ 556l. In this Division, ‘member’ means a member of the Air Force.”.

Second Schedule.

9. The Second Schedule to the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in the table headed “ (i) Modifications ” after item (c) the following item:—

“ (caaa) 19 Omit ‘five pounds’, substitute ‘$10’.”;

(b) by omitting item (ja) from that table and substituting the following items:—

“ (ja)	46	Omit from paragraph (2) (b) ‘two pounds’, substitute ‘$4’.
“ (jaa)	47	Insert in sub-section (2), after paragraph (b) (first occurring), the following paragraph:—
‘(c) Any deduction authorized by this Act to be made from his salary or pay.’.”;

(c) by inserting in that table after item (la) the following item:—

Third Schedule.

10. The Third Schedule to the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting after item (bf) the following item:—

“ (bff) 199 Omit ‘fourpence’, substitute ‘3 cents’.”;

(b) by inserting after item (bh) the following item:—

“ (bha) 125 Omit from paragraph (f) ‘twopence’, substitute ‘2 cents’.”; and

(c) by adding at the end of column 3 of item (bi) the following words:—

“ Omit from paragraph (h) ‘twopence’, substitute ‘2 cents’.”.

Fourth Schedule.

11. The Fourth Schedule to the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from the third paragraph in the fourth column of the table headed “ (i) Modifications ” the words “ or one shilling per day, whichever is the greater ” opposite to the figures “ XV./III./1133 ”;

(b) by inserting the following paragraph after the third paragraph in the fourth column of that table opposite to the figures “ XV./IV./1138 ”:—

“ Omit from sub-clause (b) of clause 2 ‘£2’, substitute ‘$4’.”;

(c) by omitting from the fourth paragraph in the fourth column of that table the words “active pay ” opposite to the figures “ XV./IV./1138 ” and substituting the words “ salary or pay ”;

(d) by inserting the following paragraph after the first paragraph in the fourth column of that table opposite to the figures “ XV./IV./1141 ”:—
