“4 0. For the purpose of determining the duties, pay and retiring age of officers, the Air Force shall be divided into the following branches :—
(
a ) the general duties branch ;(
b ) the technical branch ;(
c ) the equipment branch ;(
d ) the medical branch ;(
e ) the accountant branch ;(
f ) the special duties branch ; and(
g ) the chaplains branch.”.
(2.) An officer who immediately prior to the commencement of this regulation held a commission in the commissioned warrant officer branch may—
(
a ) be transferred to a branch specified in regulation 49 of the Air Force Regulations in accordance with the provisions of regulation 57 of the Air Force Regulations as if the commissioned warrant officer branch continued to be a branch of the Air Force; or(
b ) have his appointment as an officer terminated and be enlisted as an airman, if he is under the age of fifty-five years and, within one month after the commencement of this regulation, he so requests.
(3.) A person to whom the last preceding sub-regulation applies shall, until he is transferred or his appointment is terminated, as the case may be, continue to serve with the rank in which he was serving immediately prior to the commencement of this regulation.
(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulations :—
“ (1.) The ages for compulsory retirement of officers (other than members of the Nursing Service) shall be in accordance with the following table:—

(
(1a.) The age for compulsory retirement of a member of the Nursing Service shall be 55 years.”; and
(
b ) by omitting sub-regulation (4.).
“ (1.) The age for compulsory retirement of an airman shall be 55 years.”.
