REGULATIONS UNDER THE
AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1941.*
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the Air Force Act 1923-1941.

Amendments
of the Air Force Regulations.
1. After regulation 118 of the Air Force Regulations
the following regulation is inserted :—
Promotion when
age for retirement extended.
" 118a. An
airman whose age for retirement has been extended in pursuance of regulation
118 of these Regulations shall not be eligible for further promotion in
substantive rank in the Active Force.".
2.— (1.) Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is
repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead :—
Pay of officers.
" 543.—(1.) The daily rate of active pay of an
officer of the Permanent Air Force other than an officer of the chaplains
branch or of the Nursing Service shall be the rate specified in relation to his
rank and service in the following table :—

(2.) This regulation
shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of October,
1948.
3. After regulation 547a
of the Air Force Regulations the following regulation is inserted :—
Deferred pay of certain officers who are contributors
under the Defence Forces Retirement
Benefits Act1948-1949.
" 547b.—(1.) This regulation shall apply
to an officer who—
(a) has become a contributor under the
provisions of the Defence Forces Retirement
Benefits Act 1948-1949 ;
(b) was, on the first day of July,
1948, a contributor under the provisions of the Superannuation Act 1922-1947; and
(c) was not an officer as defined by
section 60a of the last-mentioned
Act,
and
any reference to an officer in the succeeding provisions of this regulation
shall be read as a reference to such an officer.
" (2.) Deferred pay shall not be credited under
these Regulations to an officer in respect of any period after the first day of
July, 1948.
" (3.) Accumulated
deferred pay and interest standing at the credit of an officer on the first day
of July, 1948, shall continue to bear interest in accordance with the
provisions of regulations of these Regulations.".
Pay of airmen other than aircrew and apprentices.
4.—(1.) Regulation 549 of the Air Force Regulations is
amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the table and inserting in its
stead the following table :—

5.—(1.) Regulation 550 of the Air Force Regulations is
amended—
(a) by omitting from, sub-regulation (1.)
the table and inserting in its stead the following table :—

Provision allowance.
6.—(1.)
Regulation 566 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the words
" Three shillings " and inserting in their stead the words " Four
shillings ".
(2.) This regulation
shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of October,
1948.
Living out allowance in Australia— single members.
7.—(.1.) Regulation 567
of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (b) the words " Four shillings
and sixpence " and inserting in their stead the words " Five
shillings and sixpence ".
(2.) This regulation
shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of October,
1948.
Ration and lodging allowances in Australia— single
members.
8.—(.1.)
Regulation 569 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)
of sub-regulation (1.) the words " Three shillings " and
inserting in their stead the words " Four shillings "; and
(b) by omitting from paragraph (a)
of sub-regulation (2.) the words " for the first thirty days and
Four shillings and sixpence per day thereafter ".
(2.) This regulation
shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of October,
1948.
Conditions to be approved by Air Board.
9. Regulation 571 of the Air Force Regulations is
amended by inserting before the figures " 567 " the figures " 566,".
Living out allowance while on leave.
10.—(1.)
Regulation 571c of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting from
sub-regulation (1.) the words " Four shillings and sixpence " and
inserting in their stead the words " Five shillings and sixpence ".
(2.) This regulation
shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of October,
1948.
