REGULATIONS UNDER THE AIR FORCE ACT 1923-1956.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Air Force Act 1923-1956.

AMENDMENTS OF THE AIR FORCE REGULATIONS  

Parts.

1. Regulation 2 of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the words and figures—

"Division 2A.—Variations of Pay—Regulation 552B.".

2. Regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

Repeal.

3. Division 2A of Part XI. of the Air Force Regulations is repealed.

Allowance for medical and dental officers.

4.—(1.) Regulation 556C of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

"(1.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, an officer of the medical branch of the Permanent Air Force who is a qualified medical or dental practitioner, and an officer of the Women's Royal Australian Air Force Branch who is such a practitioner, may be paid an allowance at the rate specified, in relation to the officer's rank, in the following table:—

(2.) The allowance provided for in regulation 556C of the Air Force Regulations, as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation, is payable—

(a) to an officer of the Permanent Air Force or of the Women's Royal Australian Air Force Branch, in accordance with that regulation, in respect of service on and after the second day of May, 1963; and

(b)to an officer of the Citizen Air Force who is entitled to payment of the allowance provided for in that regulation by virtue of sub-regulation (2.) of regulation 647 of the Air Force Regulations in respect of service on and after the first day of July, 1963.

Special midday meal allowance.

5. Regulation 598AA of the Air Force Regulations is amended by omitting the words "Three shillings and sixpence" and inserting in their stead the words "Four shillings".

Application.

6.—(1.) In this regulation, the "prescribed period" means—

(a) in relation to an officer of the Permanent Air Force—the period from and including the second day of May, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of these Regulations;

(b)in relation to an officer of the Citizen Air Force—the period from and including the first day of July, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of these Regulations; and

(c) in relation to an airman of the Citizen Air Force—the period from and including the first day of July, 1963, to and including the seventeenth day of July, 1963.

(2.) The next succeeding sub-regulation applies in a case where an officer of the Permanent Air Force has received or is entitled to receive active pay in accordance with regulation 543 of the Air Force Regulations in respect of a day in the prescribed period.

(3.) The rate of active pay applicable under Divisions 2 and 2A of Part XI. of the Air Force Regulations during the prescribed period shall, in a case to which this sub-regulation applies, be increased by an amount equal to the amount by which that rate is less than the rate of active pay that would have been applicable if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the second day of May, 1963.

(4.) The next succeeding sub-regulation applies in a case where an officer or airman of the Citizen Air Force has received or is entitled to receive active pay in accordance with regulation 543 or regulation 549, as the case requires, of the Air Force Regulations in respect of a day in the prescribed period.

(5.) The rate of active pay applicable under Divisions 2 and 2A of Part XI. of the Air Force Regulations during the appropriate prescribed period shall, in a case to which this regulation applies, be increased by an amount equal to the amount by which that rate is less than the rate of active pay that would have been applicable if the amendments made by these Regulations and by Statutory Rules 1963, No. 64, had taken effect on the first day of July, 1963.
