Air Accidents (Commonwealth Liability)

An Act to amend the Air Accidents (Commonwealth Liability) Act 1963–1970.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—

Short title and citation.

1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Air Accidents (Commonwealth Liability) Act 1971.

(2.) The Air Accidents (Commonwealth Liability) Act 1963–1970 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Air Accidents (Commonwealth Liability) Act 1963–1971.

Commencement.

2.This Act shall come into operation on the date fixed under subsection (2.) of section 2 of the Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971.

 

Liability of Commonwealth, &c., independently of this Part.

3.Section 10 of the Principal Act is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-section (2.) the words “Commonwealth Employees’ Compensation Act 1930–1962” and inserting in their stead the words “Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-section (3.) the words “section seventeen a of the Commonwealth Employees’ Compensation Act 1930–1962” and inserting in their stead the words “section ninety-nine or one hundred of the Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971”.

Application of Part.

4.Section 11 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (a) of sub-section (1.) the words “Commonwealth Employees’ Compensation Act 1930–1962” and inserting in their stead the words “Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971”.

5.Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-section (2.) the words “Commonwealth Employees’ Compensation Act 1930–1962” and inserting in their stead the words “Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971”; and

(b)by omitting from sub-section (3.) the words “section seventeen a of the Commonwealth Employees’ Compensation Act 1930–1962” and inserting in their stead the words “section ninety-nine or one hundred of the Compensation (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1971
