AN ACT to amend the Agriculture Protection Board

Act, 1950-1951.

[Assented to 18th January, 1954.]

RE it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Short title

and citation. 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Agriculture

Protection Board Act Amendment Act, 1953.

(2) In this Act the Agriculture Protection Board

Act, 1950-1951,

Act No. 76 of 1950 as amended by Act No. 19 of 1951,

is referred to as the principal Act.

1953.1 Agriculture Protection Board. [No. 84. (3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Agriculture Protection Board Act, 1950-1953.

2. Section five of the principal Act is amended— sis amended.

(a) by substituting for the words in lines one to twelve both inclusive of paragraph (a) of subsection (3) the words, "The Director of Agriculture, or his deputy, the Chief Vermin Control Officer, who shall be Chair- man, two officers of the Department of Agriculture nominated by the Minister; the";

(b) by repealing paragraph (b) of subsection / 139ni Mot 1951,

(3);

(c) by adding after paragraph (a) of subsec- tion (3) the following paragraph:

(3b) The person occupying or acting in the office of Chief Vermin Control Officer under the Vermin Act, 1919-1950, shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Protection Board. ;

(d)	by deleting the words added after the word, "absence" in paragraph (b) of subsection (8) by paragraph (i) of section three of Act No. 19 of 1951; and
(e)	by adding after the word, "member" in line two of subsection (9) the words, "or Chief Executive Officer".

3. Paragraph (m) of section eight of the prin- amended

cipal Act is amended by adding after the word, "officers" in line one, the words, ", other than the Chief Executive Officer mentioned in subsection (3a) of section five of this Act,".

4. Section eleven of the principal Act is amended— amended.

(a)

by deleting the interpretation, "specified

area" in subsection (1);

(b)

by adding after the word, "of" in line four of tubsection (2) the words, "the control, prevention and eradication of vermin and noxious weeds, and the general expenses of the Protection Board,

(a)	a contribution to be made by the Commission of three thousand pounds; and
(b)	a sum to be appropriated from the consolidated revenue fund, of one hundred and five thousand pounds";

(c)	by deleting paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (2);
(d)	by substituting for the word, "contribu- tions" in line three of subsection (3) the word, "contribution"; and
(e)	by substituting for the words, "sums which are mentioned in the last preceding sub- section and which are other than contri- butions" in lines six, seven and eight of subsection (3), the words, "sum of one hundred and five thousand pounds men- tioned in that subsection".
