Determination under section 52-1 for flexible care subsidy in respect of Extended Aged Care at Home - Dementia

I, SANTO SANTORO, Minister for Ageing, acting under section 52-1(1)(b) of the Aged Care Act 1997 (the Act) REVOKE, immediately before 1 July 2006 Determination ACA Ch.3 No 23/2005 and, DETERMINE, that the amount of FLEXIBLE CARE SUBSIDY in respect of flexible care provided as extended aged care at home – dementia, as described in section 15.8 of the Flexible Care Subsidy Principles 1997, payable from the date of registration of this Determination, in respect of a day, is the amount worked out in accordance with the method set out below.

Step 1              Establish the basic subsidy amount that would be payable for that day if the care recipient was receiving residential care (not being respite care) at the same location in a residential care service and where the care recipient was classified at classification level RCS 1.

Step 2 Add the amount equivalent to the amount of the oxygen supplement that would be payable under subsection 44-13(1) of the Act if the care recipient was receiving residential care.

Step 3 Add the amount equivalent to the amount of the enteral feeding supplement that would be payable under subsection 44-14(1) of the Act if the care recipient was receiving residential care.

The result is the amount of flexible care subsidy payable in respect of the care recipient for flexible care provided to the care recipient; in the form of extended aged care at home – dementia, on that day.
