1899. [15th January, 1902.]

Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative authority of the same, as follows :—

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with

1. This Act may be cited as the " Advances to Settlers (Amendment) Act, 1901."

2. (1) An advance may be made under section nine of the Advances to Settlers Act, 1899, to the amount of five hundred pounds: and subsection (d) of that section is amended by substituting the words "five hundred pounds " for the words " two hundred pounds " in that subsection.

(2) Subsection (g) of that section is repealed, and the

following substituted in its place : —
" Every such advance, with interest thereon, shall be repaid within thirty-one years from the making of the advance, on a scale to be fixed by regulations made under this Act."

The word " temporary " in the first paragraph of the said section

shall be omitted.

(3) An advance may be made to any person named or described in the said section on any grounds that to the board seem just and reasonable, notwithstanding anything in the Advances to Settlers Act, 1899, or the preamble to that Act.
