Adoption (Validation of Consents) Amendment Act 1999

An Act to amend the Adoption Act 1988

[Royal Assent 30 April 1999]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Adoption (Validation of Consents) Amendment Act 1999 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Adoption Act 1988 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 38A insertedAfter section 38 of the Principal Act , the following section is inserted in Division 3: 38AValidation of consents A consent to an adoption purported to have been given in accordance with section 30(1)(a) in the period from 15 May 1992 to 27 December 1995 is not invalid by reason only of the fact that a person in whose presence the consent was given was not at the time approved by the Director under section 30(1)(a)(ii) .
