An Act to amend the Adoption Act 1988

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Adoption Amendment Act 2013 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Adoption Act 1988 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 20 amended (Persons in whose favour adoption orders may be made) Section 20 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsections (2A) and (3) and substituting the following subsection: (3)  The court is not to make an adoption order in favour of a person who is, or persons either of whom is – (a) the mother of the child; or (b) a man who, under section 29(3) , is an appropriate person to give consent to the adoption of the child; or (c) a woman who, under section 29(4A) , is an appropriate person to give consent to the adoption of the child. 5Repeal of ActThis Act is repealed on the three hundred and sixty fifth day from the day on which it commences.
