NORTHERN TERRITORY OF AUSTRALIA

Interpretation Act

ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS ORDER

Ordered by His Honour the Administrator

I, Thomas Ian Pauling, Administrator of the Northern Territory of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, for section 35 of the Interpretation Act, make the following orders commencing on the date of this instrument.

1. All Administrative Arrangements Orders in force immediately before the date of this instrument cease to have effect.

2. Subject to any Act, the Minister holding a Ministerial office specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 or 2 is allotted:

(a)the general and financial administration of the Agencies specified in column 2 of that Schedule opposite the office to the extent that administration relates to the matters referred to in paragraphs (b) and (c); and

(b)   the general and financial administration of:

(i)the Acts specified in column 3 of that Schedule opposite the office; and

(ii)any Acts not so specified relating to the principal areas of government for which the Minister is responsible; and

(c)the general and financial responsibility for the principal areas of government specified in column 4 of that Schedule opposite the office.

1. The departments and other Authorities and bodies specified in column 2 of Schedule 1 or 2 are nominated as Agencies.

2. Subject to any Act, an Agency specified in Schedule 1 is:

(a)    an Agency for the Public Sector Employment and Management Act;                    and

(b)an Agency for the Financial Management Act unless clause 5 applies; and

(c)allotted the general and financial administration of:

(i)the Acts specified in column 3 of Schedule 1 opposite the Agency; and

(ii)any Acts not so specified relating to the principal areas of government for which the Agency is responsible; and

except the financial administration of an Act allotted to another Agency by clause 5; and

(d)allotted the general and financial responsibility for the principal areas of government specified in column 4 of Schedule 1 opposite the Agency except the financial responsibility for an area allotted to another Agency by clause 5.

1. Subject to any Act, an Agency specified in Schedule 2 is:

(a)    an Agency for the Financial Management Act only; and

(b)   allotted the financial administration of:

(i)the Acts specified in column 3 of Schedule 2 opposite the Agency; and

(ii)any Acts not so specified relating to the principal areas of government for which the Agency has financial responsibility; and

(c)allotted the financial responsibility for the principal areas of government specified in column 4 of Schedule 2 opposite the Agency.

1. Schedule 3 specifies Ministers and Ministerial offices.
