An Act to alter and amend Ordinance A%. 11 of 1849, " To con-

stitute a iIficrtic@nl Corporatiojz for the City of

Adelaide."

HEREAS, by the sixty-first section of the Ordinance No.

of one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine, '. To constitute a Municipal Corporation for the City of Adelaide," it was amongst other things eriactcd that the Council of the mid City slroulcl hdve full power and authority to order and direct nss~ssmcnts to Ire made, subjcct to the provisions and in manner thereinafter xncntioncd, of all builr\ings, lands, tene~nents, and hereditamcnts within the limits of the said City, whether occupied or not occupied, rented or not rented, according to the full, &ir, and sveragc estimated annual value of the same, clcnr of all outgoings, and it is just and cxpedicnt that aU such asse~~ments of lands, tenements, and hereclitaments, within the litnits of the said City, should be made accordinq to the principle hereafter adopted, m d having regard to the area of the land or the frontage to the main strcet, or other street, road, or thoroug'tlfarc, in which the said lands, tenements, and hercditaments may be sitnate-

Uc it therefbre Enacted, by the Governor-in-Chief of the Pro~iilce of

South Australia, by and with the advice and consent of the Lcgisla-

tive Council and 1Souse of Asscmbly of the said Province, in this

present Parliarrlcnt assembled, as follows:

That all asscswlents hereafter to be made under the provisions of

and average estimated annual rent, clear of all outgoings, at which

the same lands, tenements, and hereclitaments would let for a term

2. That every person who shall feel himself or herself aggrieved by any assessment made in pursuance of this Act, on the ground that his or her property is assessed beyond its fair estimated value, deter- mined as hereinbefore provided, shall have a right of appeal against any such assessment in the manner provided by the sixty-fourth section of the said Ordinance, and on complying with all the require- men'ts of the said last-mentioned section.

3. The Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, may

4. This Act shall commence and take effect from and after the
