AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

TECNAM P92, P96, and P2002 Series Aeroplanes

AD/TECNAM/5 Rudder Interference 9/2007

Applicability:

Model P2002-JF aircraft, serial numbers 001 through 013.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Tecnam Service Bulletin No. P2002/2 original issue, dated 21 March 2005, or later ENAC/EASA approved revision.

Note:  ENAC AD 2005-167 refers.

Compliance:

Unless already accomplished, before further flight.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 August 2007.

Background:

A partial rudder jam occurred on a Model P2002-JF aircraft.  Investigation revealed interference between the rudder’s forward lip and the vertical fin rear spar.
