AD/Tecnam/4 Rudder Pedal Torque Tube Steering Levers (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

TECNAM P92, P96, and P2002 Series Aeroplanes

AD/TECNAM/4 Rudder Pedal Torque Tube Steering Levers 9/2007

Applicability:

Model P92-J aircraft, serial numbers 001 through 012, and Model P92-JS aircraft, serial numbers 013 through 045, except serial number 044.

Requirement:

Inspect in accordance with Tecnam Service Bulletin No. P92-J/013 Revision 1, dated 31 August 2005, or later ENAC/EASA approved revision.

If cracks are detected during any inspection, before further flight, contact Tecnam for further instructions.

Note:  ENAC AD 2005-343 refers.

Compliance:

Inspect within 3 months after 30 August 2007, unless already accomplished, and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 100 flight hours.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 August 2007.

Background:

Cracks have been detected on the welds between the rudder pedal torque tube and the steering levers of the rudder pedals.
