AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

TECNAM P92, P96, and P2002 Series Aeroplanes

AD/TECNAM/2 Seat Rail Stops 9/2007

Applicability:

All Model P92-J, P92-JS, and P2002-JF aircraft.

Requirement:

Verify the installation of the forward plugs and stops of the seat rails in accordance with Tecnam Service Bulletin 001-CS original issue, dated 24 March 2006, or later EASA approved revision.

If plugs or stops are not installed, before further flight, contact Tecnam for parts supply and installation instructions.

Compliance:

Within 3 months after 30 August 2007, unless already accomplished.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 August 2007.

Background:

A report was received of missing seat rail forward stops on one of the applicable aircraft.  This condition, unless corrected, could result in release of the seat and difficulty for the occupant to control the aircraft.
