AD/TBM 700/43 Aileron Control Cable Pulleys (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Aerospatiale (Socata) TBM 700 Series Aeroplanes

AD/TBM 700/43 Aileron Control Cable Pulleys 10/2005 TX

Applicability:

EADS SOCATA TBM 700 C aircraft, from serial number 261 to 268 inclusive and from serial number 270 to 323 inclusive.

Requirement:

Accomplish a detailed inspection of the aileron control cable pulleys and brackets, and carry out any rectification of defects found, in accordance with the accomplishment instructions of EADS SOCATA Service Bulletin (SB) TBM 700 No. 70-134 dated July 2005 or later DGAC approved revision.

Note:  DGAC AD F-2005-133 EASA approval No 2005-6122 dated 27 July 2005 refers.

Compliance:

Within the next 10 flight hours after the effective date of this Directive.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 17 August 2005.

Background:

Incorrect geometry of some pulley brackets has been discovered during inspection of the aileron control system.  This can offset the cable in the sheave and then, could reduce the aircraft rolling controllability.
