SAAB SF340 Series Aeroplanes

AD/SF340/26 Amdt 2 Modification of Exit and Dome Light Assemblies 24/2009

Applicability:

SAAB SF340A-004 to -159 and SAAB 340B-160 to -179. As specified in SAAB-SCANIA AB Service Bulletin (SB) SAAB 340-33-030.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with SAAB-SCANIA AB SB 340-33-030 Revision 2.

The use of later approved revisions of the Requirement document is acceptable for compliance with the requirements of this AD.

Note 1:  Swedish AD No. 1-047 refers.

Compliance:

In accordance with the requirement document with a revised compliance date of 31 August 1992, unless already accomplished in accordance with the above Requirement document as contained in Amendment 1 of this AD.

This Amendment becomes effective on 28 January 2010.

Note 2:  The original issue of this Directive became effective on 30 April 1986.

Background:

The existing combination of power supply loads and the in-flight temperature gradient for the power packs in the emergency lighting system can lead to a reduction in the operating time below the required ten minutes.

Amendment 1 of this AD introduced FAA AD 92-03-05 and SAAB SB 340-33-030 Revision 2 as Requirement documents, replacing Swedish AD No. 1-047.  Also, the following Note was introduced “Revision 1 of SB 340-33-030 was issued for clarification of the text and correction of  part Nos. Revision 2 of SB 340-330030 was issued to allow certain aircraft to retain the existing emergency dome light bulb”.

This amendment includes editorial changes, redefines the applicability and removes reference to FAA AD 92-03-05 as a Requirement document.
