AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | SAAB 340 aircraft.
Requirement: | 1. Determine the applicability of the Swedish Airworthiness Directives (SAD) listed in Table 1. 2. If it is determined that an SAD listed in Table 1 is applicable and has not been previously accomplished, perform the actions required by that SAD or later EASA-approved revision. Service Bulletins approved by EASA as Alternative Methods of Compliance (AMOC) to the SADs listed in Table 1 are considered acceptable for compliance with the equivalent requirements of this Airworthiness Directive.

Compliance: | If a certificate of airworthiness has not been issued for the aircraft - before issue of the certificate of airworthiness. If a certificate of airworthiness has been issued for the aircraft - before further flight after 60 days from the effective date of this Directive. This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 August 2010. |
Background: | The SADs listed in Table 1 of this Airworthiness Directive require once-only actions for which the compliance date has passed. CASA has determined that these SADs may be applicable to some Australian aircraft. This Airworthiness Directive is issued to ensure compliance with all State of Design ADs. CASA appreciates that, due to date of aircraft manufacture or aircraft configuration and modification status, some of the SADs listed in Table 1 will not be applicable to any aircraft presently registered in Australia. |
