AD/Seats/27 Equipment Passenger Seats Inspection of Seatbelt Shackle (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Recaro Aircraft Passenger Seats Type 3410, 3510 (A,B,C,D), 4400, 4420 and 6510 delivered after 1st November 2005 and before 5th May 2006. |
Requirement: | Accomplish the requirements of the following Recaro Aircraft Seating GmbH & Co. KG Service Bulletins as appropriate to the seat type: 3410-25BQ555, Original Issue, dated 19 May 2006 3510-25BQ073, Original Issue, dated 18 May 2006 4400-25BQ046, Original Issue, dated 19 May 2006 4420-25BQ128, Original Issue, dated 19 May 2006 6510-25BQ115, Original Issue, dated 19 May 2006 or later approved revisions. Note: EASA AD 2006-0220 refers. |
Compliance: | Within 8 calendar weeks after the effective date of the Airworthiness Directive. |

Background: | During an inspection an improperly riveted seat belt shackle was found. This could lead to a malfunction of the seat belt attachment. The existence of similar occurrences cannot be excluded. |
