AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Eurocopter SA 315 (Lama) Series Helicopters

AD/SA 315/11 Main Rotor Hub 12/2006

Applicability:

Model SA 315 B helicopters equipped with main rotor hub body part number 3160.12.10020 and 3160.12.10020.1.

Requirement:

Inspect the visible internal and external areas of the rotor hub yoke lugs in accordance with the Maintenance Manual Work Card 5720.601 (issued 12.83).

Note:  DGAC AD 84-134-29(B) and LAMA Telex Service No. 65.34 refer.

Compliance:

At intervals not to exceed 400 flight hours, until the accumulation of 3,000 flight hours.

Upon the accumulation of 3,000 flight hours, inspect at intervals not to exceed 50 flight hours.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 23 November 2006.

Background:

The DGAC requires inspection for cracks in the lugs of the rotor hub yokes.
