AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/S-PUMA/6 Amdt 1.

Eurocopter AS 332 (Super Puma) Series Helicopters

AD/S-PUMA/6 Amdt 1 Lucas Air Equipment Hoists - Explosive Squib 8/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 30 July 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD raised in 1993 against Aerospatiale Telex No. 10265.INF/332/55 dated 28 November 1991 (Eurocopter France AS 332 Service Bulletin (SB) SB No. 01.33) and Eurocopter France AS 332 Service Bulletin (SB)
SB No. 25-56 dated 5 October 1992 required an inspection to ensure that pyrotechnic squib of Lucas air equipment hoists will fire correctly when required.  This action follows manufacturer advice of the possibility that hoist squib may have been incorrectly connected.

Compliance was:  For installed hoists, prior to first hoisting mission after 4 March 1993, where a pyrotechnic squib is installed, but no later than 30 April 1993.  For spare hoists, prior to installation.

Compliance with original issue of AD was terminating action for hoist P/No. 76365 and 76368.  Other applicable hoist P/No. 76360.

This AD has been sufficiently promulgated for the affected hoists to have been inspected by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required.
