AD/S-62/10 Amdt 1 Main Gearbox Input Shaft and Gear Assembly 4/2005

Applicability:

All Model S62A and S62B Helicopters fitted with Main Gearboxes (MGB) part number (P/N) 6235-20000-3 through -10 inclusive.

Requirement:

Inspect the input shaft helical gears, P/N S6235-20158 in accordance with Sikorsky Aircraft Service Bulletin No. 62B35-6.

Note:  FAA AD 63-17-06 refers.

Compliance:

Within 250 flight hours from the previous inspection and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 250 flight hours.

This Amendment becomes effective on 14 April 2005.

Background:

This Directive requires an inspection of the MGB input shaft and gear assembly for possible rotational play between the splines on the shaft and the splines on the gear, and loss of torque on the nut securing the gears to the shaft.

The amendment reissues the Directive with no change to the technical content.

The original issue of this Directive became 31 July 1987.
