AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/ROBIN/7 Amdt 2 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Robin Aviation Series Aeroplanes

Applicability:

All Model HR100/210, HR100/210D, R1180T, and R1180TD aircraft.

All Model HR100/200, HR100/200B, DR300, and DR400 aircraft, equipped with “Avions Robin” nose landing gear.  “Avions Robin” nose gears are fitted with drop forged links, unlike “SAB” nose gears which are fitted with welded assembly torque links.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Apex Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 101 Revision 5, dated 22 May 2007, or later EASA approved revision.

Note:  EASA Corrected AD 2007-0171 refers.

Compliance:

At the inspection times specified in the Requirement document, with the initial inspections effective from 27 September 2007.

This Amendment becomes effective on 27 September 2007.

Background:

The Manufacturer reports cracking of the weld securing the nose wheel steering bracket to the nose landing gear leg.

Amendment 1 aligned this Directive to the revised DGAC AD which required a dye penetrant inspection and a variation to the compliance.

Amendment 2 altered applicability in response to a revision of the related DGAC AD.

Amendment 3 is issued in response to a new EASA AD, which introduces repetitive inspections of the nose landing gear upper plate in addition to the previously required repetitive inspections of the lower plate.
