AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/ROBIN/10 Amdt 1.

Robin Aviation Series Aeroplanes

AD/ROBIN/10 Amdt 1 Control Column Assembly Welds 7/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 2 July 2009.

Background:

This AD, raised in 1986, required an inspection for cracking of the weld and/or tubing in the area of the upper "T" junction of the horizontal and vertical legs of the control column using fluorescent penetrant.  This requirement followed a report of cracking of the welded steel "Stick bottom tube" assembly P/No. 27.40.12.000.  Compliance was required prior to issue of Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA).

When this AD was first promulgated compliance required repetitive inspections.  This was amended to prior to CofA when it was found that there was no evidence of any pre-existing defects and a fleet inspection found no evidence of cracking.  As the mandatory defect reporting system has not recorded any such defect since the initial report, this AD is no longer required.
