AD/Res/34 Horizontal Net SRFW HN1 (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Restraint Equipment

AD/RES/34 Horizontal Net SRFW HN1 11/2007

Applicability:

Swiss Air-Ambulance Ltd (formerly SRFW) Horizontal Net SRFW HN1.  These nets can be used as rescue equipment in various helicopter types.

Requirement:

Further use in flight operations of the affected nets is prohibited, and the equipment must be removed from service.

Note:  Switzerland FOCA AD HB-2007-295 refers.

Compliance:

Within 30 days after 25 October 2007.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 25 October 2007.

Background:

The original raw material for the production of the affected horizontal nets is no longer available.  In 1990 the manufacturer changed to an alternative raw material in the production process.  The material strength of the alternative raw material is unknown and is therefore considered as not approved and must be withdrawn from service.
