AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/RAD/19.

Radio Communication and Navigation Equipment

AD/RAD/19 "Aircom" VHF Transceiver - Modification 4/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 9 April 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD was raised in1968 requiring a modification to Aircom LVC-4 series VHF Transceivers to reduce second harmonic radiation from the transmitter to a level at least 40 dB below the mean carrier level to ensure the receiver radiations are not more than 50 millimicro watts due spurious radiation from this equipment causing serious interference to other communication systems.

A suitable band pass filter installed in the transmission line close to the transceivers was an acceptable method of compliance.

Compliance was before 1 July 1968.

Given the extended period this AD has been promulgated, and that affected VHF Transceivers would have been modified by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required.
