AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Pratt and Whitney Canada Turbine Engines - PW100 Series

AD/PW100/13 Fuel Manifold Adapter Assemblies 14/2010

Applicability:

All Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PW124B, PW127, PW127E, and PW127F engines that have Service Bulletin 21607 incorporated.

All PW 127G and PW127H engines.

Requirement:

Unless previously accomplished, perform the actions required in Transport Canada AD CF-2005-11.

Note:  P&WC Service Bulletin 21705 Revision 4 refers.

Compliance:

Prior to 30 October 2010.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 31 July 2010.

Background:

The affected fuel manifold adapter assemblies can be installed with incorrect orientation of the fuel injectors which may lead to fuel leaks and engine in-flight shutdowns.  This AD requires replacement of the fuel manifold adapter assemblies and the fuel manifold hoses with improved configuration to prevent improper installation.

CASA has determined that this AD may be applicable to recently-registered Australian aircraft.
