AD/PW-P/13 Piston Pin Replacement Cancelled (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/PW-P/13.
Pratt and Whitney Piston Engines
| AD/PW-P/13 | Piston Pin - Replacement | 9/2009 |
Requirement: | CANCELLED. |
| This AD is cancelled on 27 August 2009. | |
Background: | This unique Australian AD raised in 1961 against Pratt & Whitney Service Bulletin (SB) No. 1730 required Wasp Junior and R985 engines used in agricultural operations to be modified by the installation of thicker walled piston pins and crankshaft reworked to counterbalance subsequent increase in reciprocating weight. Compliance was: Before installation in an aircraft following next overhaul completed after 1 March 1965. Given the extended period this AD has been promulgated, and that affected engines would have been modified by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required. |
