AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/PMC/27 Amdt 1.

Propellers - Variable Pitch - McCauley

AD/PMC/27 Amdt 1 Attachment Studs 4/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 9 April 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD was originally raised in1973 against McCauley Service Bulletin (SB) No.102 requiring a modification by increasing the number of propeller attaching studs to improve strength of the propeller attachment following manufacturers reports of propeller mounting bolt failures.  Subsequently, SB
No.102-1 was added to extend the applicability of the AD.

Note that modified hubs have 8 studs protruding 44.5mm to 45mm above the hub, 8 x 12mm thick spacers and the letter “P” added as a suffix to the part number.

Compliance was unless previously carried out - prior to installation.

Given the extended period this AD has been promulgated, and that affected propeller hubs would have been modified by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required.
