AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/PITTS S-2/9.

Pitts S-1 and S-2 Series Aeroplanes

AD/PITTS S-2/9 Rudder Cable - Inspection 1/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 15 January 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD, issued in 1976, required modification of a plate at the pedal end of the rudder cable due to the plate assembly not been completely finished.  The modification required chamfering of the plate hole, in accordance with Pitts Service Bulletin No. 9, to prevent excessive wear on the thimble inside the rudder cable eye.  The AD compliance was within 5 hours time in service after 19 May 1976.  As all aircraft should have been modified by now the AD is no longer required.
