AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/PHS/6.

Propellers - Variable Pitch - Hamilton Standard

AD/PHS/6 Model 23e-50, Barrel Bolt Boss - Modification 4/2009

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 9 April 2009.

Background:

This unique Australian AD was raised prior to1950 against Hamilton Standard Service Bulletin (SB) No. 122 requiring inspection, rejection or rework of model 23E-50 propeller barrels due to cracking at the corner barrel bolt boss adjacent to the blade bore.  The SB was issued to obtain increased service from the barrels.

Compliance was before installation in an aircraft.

Given the extended period this AD has been promulgated, and that affected propellers would have been inspected, rejected or reworked by now, this AD is considered to be no longer required.
