Compliance:

Within the next 100 hours time in service after the effective date of this Directive.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 12 March 2009.

Background:

The FAA has advised that ice forming on the stall vane heater during flights into icing conditions with the landing gear down may result in failure of the stall warning system and the pilot being unaware of an approaching stall situation.  This Directive requires the installation of a stall warning heat control modification kit to prevent ice from forming on the stall vane.
