AD/PA-36/18 Amdt 1 Wing Main Spar Carry Through Assembly Inspection (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/PA-36/18 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Piper PA-36 (Pawnee Brave) Series Aeroplanes

AD/PA-36/18 Amdt 1 Wing Main Spar Carry Through
Assembly - Inspection 3/2009

Applicability:

Model PA-36-285 with serial numbers 36-736001 to 36-7560003 except aircraft incorporating wing spar carry-through assembly Piper Part No. 76824-02.

Requirement:

Inspect the wing spar carry-through assembly Piper Part No. 97370-00 in accordance with the “Instructions Section - Paragraph A” of Piper SB No. 552 or equivalent.

If damage is observed, repair in accordance with the “Instructions Section - Paragraph B” of Piper SB No. 552 or equivalent.

Note:  USA AD 79-01-03 (amdt 39-3383) refers.

Compliance:

At intervals not exceeding 100 hours time in service.

Compliance with the original issue of this AD constitutes compliance with this Amendment.

This Amendment becomes effective on 12 March 2009.

Background:

The original issue of this AD in 1977 mentioned only Piper Part No. 97370-0.

Amendment 1 excludes aircraft incorporating Piper Part No. 76824-02, and identifies USA AD 79-01-03.
