AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/PA-28/35 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Piper PA-28 Series Aeroplanes

AD/PA-28/35 Amdt 2 Main Landing Gear Torque Links 9/2011

Applicability:

All models with fixed landing gear except those with torque link P/N 78032-00V or 78033-000.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Piper Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 1199 or FAA AD 72-08-06.

Compliance:

At intervals specified in Piper Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 1199 or FAA AD
72-08-06.

Previous compliance with Piper Service Letter No. 600 constitutes compliance with this Amendment.

This Amendment becomes effective on 13 May 2011.

Background:

Original issue of this AD specified compliance with Piper SL No. 600.

Amendment 1 exempted aircraft with improved design of torque link assembly.

Amendment 2 specifies Piper MSB No. 1199 which was published in February 2009 and supersedes Piper SL No. 600 in its entirety.  A Note about SAIB CE-10-17 was added.  The word “Inspection” was deleted from the title.
