Partenavia P68 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/P68/19 Amdt 3 | Control Wheel Shaft Universal Joint | 10/2008 |
Applicability: | All models: P68, P68B, P68C, and P68C-TC. |
Requirement: | Inspect the control wheel shaft (rod) universal joint in accordance with Partenavia Service Bulletin No. 48, Revision 1 or later revision. |
Compliance: | 1. For aircraft with serial numbers 001 up to and including 087: If Kit 68-016 has not been installed, inspect at intervals not to exceed 200 hours time in service or two years, whichever occurs first, until Kit 68-016 is installed. Note 1: Kit 68-016 includes universal joint P/No. NOR 7.315-04 and is defined in SB No. 48, Rev 1. If this Kit is to be installed see Partenavia Service Instruction No. 09, Revision 1. |
| 2. Note 2: Aircraft with serial numbers 088 and up have Kit 68-016 installed at manufacture. Note 3: Italian AD 1995-076 applies to all serial numbers. | |
| Note 4: Compliance with this AD at a previous amendment constitutes compliance with this amendment for the purposes of determining time in service and elapsed calendar time. | |
| This Amendment becomes effective on 25 September 2008. | |
Background: | The original issue of this AD in 1979 was based on failure of the pilot’s control wheel shaft universal joint in an Australian-registered P68 aircraft. Amendment 1 in 1980 specified inspection in accordance with SB No. 48. Amendment 2 in 1995 introduced repetitive inspections in accordance with SB No. 48, Revision 1. |
| Amendment 3 introduces the Italian requirement for elapsed calendar time to be taken into account in determining inspection intervals; and clarifies the serial number applicability. |
