AD/MU-2/73 Baggage Compartment / Engine Bleed Lines (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Mitsubishi MU-2 Series Aeroplanes

AD/MU-2/73 Baggage Compartment / Engine Bleed Lines 8/2009

Applicability:

Model MU-2B, MU-2B-10, -15, and -20 aircraft, serial numbers 005 through 164; except aircraft in compliance with Mitsubishi MU-2 Service Recommendation
No. 033 or 033A.

Requirement:

Accomplish the modification of the baggage compartment ceiling in accordance with the instructions of Mitsubishi MU-2 Service Bulletin No. 182 original issue, or later JCAB approved revision.

Note:  JCAB AD TCD-1817-79 refers.

Compliance:

Unless already accomplished, before 31 August 2009.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 July 2009.

Background:

There is the possibility of a baggage compartment fire occurring due to baggage contact with the engine bleed air ducting.  This Directive is issued to ensure compliance of future imported aircraft.
