AD/LYC/96 Unapproved Camshaft Repairs Cancelled (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/LYC/96.
Lycoming Piston Engines
| AD/LYC/96 | Unapproved Camshaft Repairs | 9/2009 |
Requirement: | CANCELLED. |
| This AD is cancelled on 27 August 2009. | |
Background: | This unique Australian AD raised in 1995 required an inspection of camshafts repaired by Wades Camshaft Pty Ltd, North Melbourne Victoria, prior to 31 October 1994 for lobe profile, lobe dimensions and grinding stress (induced by thermal cracks) following advice that camshafts were being repaired contrary to requirements. Compliance was: For installed camshafts: At next engine overhaul or bulk strip, whichever occurs first. For spare camshafts: Prior to installation into an engine. This AD references out-of-date requirements and has been sufficiently promulgated for the majority of affected camshafts to have been located and removed from service by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required. |
