AD/LYC/95 Turbocharger Density Controller Adjustment Cancelled (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/LYC/95.
Lycoming Piston Engines
| AD/LYC/95 | Turbocharger Density Controller Adjustment | 9/2009 |
Requirement: | CANCELLED. |
| This AD is cancelled on 27 August 2009. | |
Background: | This unique Australian AD raised in 1995 against Textron Lycoming Service Instruction (SI) No. 1187G follows manufacturer’s recommendations to adjust the turbocharger density controller following engine installation and at regular intervals, to ensure an engine is capable of developing full throttle take-off power as detailed in the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM). This is because it is not possible to duplicate the individual installation characteristics an engine will encounter before being installed in an aircraft. Compliance was: For installed engines unless accomplished within 125 hours TIS prior to 2 February 1995; within 10 hours TIS and thereafter at intervals not to exceed 125 hours TIS. For uninstalled engines prior to flight following installation of an engine. This AD, containing published manufacturer's maintenance procedures, is considered to have been sufficiently promulgated to have satisfied its purpose by raising an appreciation of the need to follow manufacturers maintenance procedures. This AD is considered therefore to be no longer required. |
