AD/LYC/91 Crankshaft Removal/Inspection Cancelled (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/LYC/91.
Lycoming Piston Engines
| AD/LYC/91 | Crankshaft Removal/Inspection | 9/2009 |
Requirement: | CANCELLED. |
| This AD is cancelled on 27 August 2009. | |
Background: | This unique Australian AD raised in 1992 required an inspection of the crankshaft assembly on all Textron Lycoming piston engines that had been overhauled by, or had the crankcase disassembled for major work, by Arnhem Aircraft Engineering Pty Ltd during period 1 January 1990 to 6 August 1992. Crankshafts with any bearing journal diameter less than the standard dimension listed in the relevant Textron Lycoming Engine Overhaul Manual were to be quarantined and local CASA office notified. Compliance was: For installed engines prior to 31 August 1992. For uninstalled engines before installation into an aircraft. This AD has been sufficiently promulgated for the majority of affected crankshafts assemblies to have been located and removed from service by now; therefore this AD is considered to be no longer required. |
