British Aerospace BAe 3100 (Jetstream) Series Aeroplanes

AD/JETSTREAM/90 Amdt 3 Main and Nose Landing
Gear - Life Limitations
6/2006

Applicability:

All Jetstream Series 3100 and 3200 aircraft.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with BAE Systems Service Bulletin 32-JA981042 Revision 5, or a later EASA approved revision.

Note:  EASA AD 2006-0087 refers.

Compliance:

As specified in the Requirement document.

This Amendment becomes effective on 8 June 2006.

Background:

A requirement has been established in consultation with the Landing Gear Manufacturer to control and rationalise the time in service for critical components in the main and nose landing gear assemblies.

The action required by this service bulletin is to record the number of flight cycles each component has done and to retire each component when the life limit has been reached.

Amendment 1 updated the requirements of this Directive to the latest issue of the Requirement document.

Amendment 2 introduced a superseding UK CAA AD, with no change to the technical content of this Directive.

Amendment 3 is issued in response to a new EASA AD, which introduces Revision 5 of the Requirement document to clarify the life limit for a correctly installed steering jack piston.
