AD/Jetstream/108 Flap Torque Shaft Assembly (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

British Aerospace BAe 3100 (Jetstream) Series Aeroplanes

AD/JETSTREAM/108 Flap Torque Shaft Assembly 22/2010

Applicability:

All HP137 Mk 1, Jetstream Series 200 and Jetstream Series 3100 aircraft.

Requirement:

Retire flap torque shaft assemblies in accordance with Jetstream Service Bulletin
27-JA840421 or later revision.

Note:  UK CAA AD 009-02-86 refers.

Compliance:

Before exceeding 18,000 landings or equivalent as specified in the Requirement document.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 November 2010.

Background:

Continued testing of the fatigue test airframe has shown the need to limit the
in-service life of the flap torque shaft assembly to 18,000 landings or its equivalent.
