British Aerospace BAe 3100 (Jetstream) Series Aeroplanes

AD/JETSTREAM/107 Amdt 1 Nosewheel Steering Selector Valve 21/2010

Applicability:

Jetstream Series 3100 and 3200 aircraft.

Requirement:

Overhaul the nosewheel steering selector valve in accordance with the requirements in Jetstream Service Bulletin 32-JA980841 Rev 1 or an equivalent document.

Note:  UK CAA AD 007-10-98 refers.

Compliance:

Initial valve overhaul:  Unless already accomplished, before further flight after
5 November 2010.

Subsequent overhauls:  At intervals not exceeding 10,000 landings or 6 years, whichever occurs first, after the previous valve overhaul.

This Amendment becomes effective on 5 November 2010.

Background:

The manufacturer investigated an uncommanded steer off the runway and found a contributory cause was excessive wear in the nosewheel steering selector valve differential.

This Airworthiness Directive was originally issued in October 2010 and nominated SB 32-JA980841 at its original issue which specified subsequent overhauls at intervals not exceeding 10,000 hours time in service.

This Amendment specifies SB 32-JA980841 at Revision 1.
