AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/JBK 117/4 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Kawasaki BK 117 Series Helicopters

AD/JBK 117/4 Amdt 1 Landing Gear Electrical Bonding 9/2009

Applicability:

All Kawasaki BK 117 helicopters with serial numbers 1001 to 1037 inclusive, except 1007.

Requirement:

1.    Electrical bonding of landing gear in accordance with Kawasaki Service Bulletin No. KSB-117-066.

2.    Removal of fuel vapor return lines in accordance with Kawasaki Service Bulletin No. KSB-117-069.

Note:  JCAB AD 3374-91 refers.

Compliance:

If not already accomplished, within 50 hours time in service after the effective date of this amendment.

This Amendment becomes effective on 27 August 2009.

Background:

The original issue of this AD was issued in 1991.  It applied to MBB BK 117 by serial number, and referred to MBB Alert SB No. 117-90-104.

Amendment 1 is raised to nominate Kawasaki helicopters, Kawasaki Service Bulletins, and the JCAB Airworthiness Directive.  Requirement No. 2 is added.
