AD/JBK 117/34 Rescue Hoist Assembly (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Kawasaki BK 117 Series Helicopters

AD/JBK 117/34 Rescue Hoist Assembly 12/2009

Applicability:	Model BK117C-2 helicopters equipped with a rescue hoist assembly part number 44301-10-4 or 44301-10-7 with serial numbers 00002 through 00285.
Requirement:	Action in accordance with the requirements of JCAB AD TCD-7532-2009.
Compliance:	As specified in the Requirement document.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 19 November 2009.
Background:	The JCAB requires certain actions to prevent improper level winding of the cable, caused by damage of the Level Wind Screw due to non-conforming machining.
