AD/JBK 117/27 Fire Extinguisher Hose Clamps (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Kawasaki BK 117 Series Helicopters

Applicability: | Kawasaki Model BK117C-1 and C-2 helicopters, serial number 4001 through 4003, and 4005 through 4010. |
Requirement: | 1. Loosen and re-torque the existing clamps on the extinguishing agent injection tube connections, in accordance with Kawasaki Service Bulletin No. These actions are not required for Kawasaki Model BK117C-2 helicopter, serial number 4010. 2. Modify the extinguishing agent injection tube connections in accordance with Kawasaki Service BulletinNo.KSB-117-283 or later JCAB approved revision. Note: JCAB AD No. TCD-7111-2007 dated 22 June 2007 refers. |
Compliance: | 1. Within 30 days after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished. 2. Within 100 flight hours after the effective date of this AD, unless previously accomplished. |

Background: | An investigation following an inadvertent operation of the fire extinguishing system discovered that one of two injection tubes became disconnected. This condition, if not corrected, could affect the ability of the fire extinguishing system to perform its intended function. |
